Beneath the table she knew he wore scuffed boots that matched the jacket. He was clean-shaven, handsome too in a rugged sort of way, although handsome men should have been the last thing on Emma's mind. The rest of the book is mainly a slow unravel of secrets that steer the characters through emotional ping- pong. He did not seem to care what others thought of him.

Here we shall endeavor to study such G-Rogue All-Stars as Rhett Butler, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Captain Jack Sparrow, and a fictional character we will refer to simply as "G-Rogue," and try to learn exactly what it is about them that causes men to clench their fists and induces women to swoon. Margaret enjoys cycling, tea and cakes and loves exploring the beautiful scenery and wildlife of the islands of Scotland with her husband. Marrying for love had never been his intention anyway — up until he met Emma, Ned had been angling to find himself a titled wife to smooth his way into society in order to pursue his business interests. What can I say about Jem, the prostitute Alan recruits at his lowest point, that hasn't already been said in dozens of favorable reviews? And is he strong enough to finally accept his sexual nature? The rest of the book is mainly a slow unravel of secrets that steer the characters through emotional ping- pong.

A further two manuscripts later and with help from RNAs new writers' scheme, her first regency romance was born. I'm almost afraid to read another book by this author duo - they've set the bar pretty high - but I will. She slapped his fingers away, kept her tone frosty. He was sitting at his usual table, over at the other side of the room, his back to the wall, a clear view of the door. Admittedly, it starts out and gets your attention with a bang hahabut this book is so much more than the vividly-described and very hot sex scenes between the two male leads.

The gentleman rogue book

But all of it understated, quiet, kept beneath the surface. One of the more recently arrived regulars at the Whitechapel chop house in which Emma works is a young, shabbily dressed man who exudes an aura of quiet strength and keeps himself very much to himself.

Emma Northcote was brought up a lady but after her brother Kit staked — and lost - the family fortune in a game of chance, she and her father have been forced to move to a much less salubrious area of London and take employment in order to keep body and soul together.

And is he strong enough to finally accept his sexual nature? Considering I am not a gay man, I would be interested to see what they thought about how this book approached these men and the sex they shared. However, the Gentleman Rogue seems to be a vanishing species in the twenty-first century; whenever we see him, he is speaking to us from another time and place: a pirate, an outlaw, a Depression-era gangster.

He did not seem to care what others thought of him. On the table before him sat his pint of porter, his almost-finished plate of lamb chops and, beside it, his faded leather hat. And is he strong enough to finally accept his sexual desires? Ned is devastated when he discovers that Emma has left her job and that she and her father have removed from the boarding house — but as he has so often had to do before, he locks his feelings away and returns his focus to his current business deal, which he regards as the most important of his life.

The Gentleman and the Rogue

Here we shall endeavor to study such G-Rogue All-Stars as Rhett Butler, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Captain Jack Sparrow, and a fictional character we will refer to simply as "G-Rogue," and try to learn exactly what it is about them that causes men to clench their fists and induces women to swoon.

There are a small number of instances when the prose tends toward the purplish, usually in the moments of heightened emotions, but the principals are likeable and taken as a whole, The Gentleman Rogue is a well-written, enjoyable read.

Despite his almost indecent wealth, Ned is well aware that the people who are keen to know him in order to do business with him merely tolerate him and that were they not desperate to gain something from their association, they would cut him dead. In a much-practised move, she hefted the whole tray up to balance it on her shoulder, before bustling across the room to make her delivery.

What can I say about Jem, the prostitute Alan recruits at his lowest point, that hasn't already been said in dozens of favorable reviews? Marrying for love had never been his intention anyway — up until he met Emma, Ned had been angling to find himself a titled wife to smooth his way into society in order to pursue his business interests.

Even through the prose is fairly sparse, it thoroughly conveys the intensity of the sexual attraction between Ned and Emma, and communicates that combination of nerves and wonder that accompanies the first flush of infatuation and attraction very well.

Both men's lives will be changed forever. I would have enjoyed learning more about his background, even though it doesn't sound like a happy one.

But most of all, she noticed him because he intrigued her. The author also has the very rare ability to not to take the book very seriously and laughs at her own expense. At home in Austin, Mr. I do not submit that the Gentleman Rogue is commendable, but I do submit that he is fascinating.

I was impressed from what I read, but I am clueless in that arena so my thoughts don't hold much weight. They rescue the girl from the clutches of an insane surgeon, who is as interested in experimenting on the vulnerable human spirit as he is on physical bodies.

Two completely different men and two different life experiences, but they found something they'd been looking for in the other. Emma Northcote was brought up a lady but after her brother Kit staked — and lost - the family fortune in a game of chance, she and her father have been forced I've given this a B- at AAR, so 3.

On the way back to the bar she cleared two tables, took two orders for more beers, and noticed a new party of men arriving to be fed.Aug 01,  · ThriftBooks sells millions of used books at the lowest everyday prices. We personally assess every book's quality and offer rare, out-of-print treasures.
